Tatreez School: 8 Week Palestinian Embroidery Course

Tatreez School is an immersive 8-week program designed to teach you the foundations and techniques of Palestinian embroidery whether you’re brand new or ready to deepen your skills. Through guided lessons, hands-on stitching, and meaningful projects, you’ll learn how tatreez functions as both an art form and a storytelling tradition.

Over the course of the program, you'll learn three fundamental embroidery techniques practiced in Palestine (traditional tatreez, tahriri and manajel) as well as learn how to stitch on clothing with waste canvas. You'll complete multiple stitched pieces, and gain the confidence to continue your tatreez journey beyond the classroom.

All materials are included in the course and provided to each student. This includes embroidery fabric, threads, needles, patterns, waste canvas, and any additional tools needed for both tatreez and tahriri techniques. Students will leave each session with everything they need to continue stitching confidently at home, with no prior supplies required.

Tatreez School will be held in person at two locations each week. Classes will take place at House of Palestine every Wednesday from 6:00–8:00 PM, running from January 7 through February 25. An additional weekly session will be held at Delah Coffee every Sunday from 12:00–2:00 PM, from January 4 through February 22.

No prior experience is required but you must be 16+ to attend.
